Pannon Skills
Tackling youth unemployment through holistic career orientation and modern apprenticeship pathways.
About the project
Pannon Skills is an international cooperation project that helps young people make better career choices and gain meaningful work experience through a holistic career orientation approach and modern apprenticeship pathways. The partnership brings together organisations from Hungary, Slovakia, Montenegro, and Belgium.
The project responds to a shared regional challenge: vocational education does not always keep pace with labour market needs, while employers—especially in the HoReCa sector—often struggle to find well-prepared candidates. Pannon Skills tackles this by mapping employability trends and updating occupation and skills expectations with employer input.
The long-term aim is to create a transferable model that vocational schools and companies can use in practice: clear guidance tools, trained career counsellors, and a multi-occupation apprenticeship approach that allows learners to try different roles within the sector and plan their next steps.
Project objectives
Three interconnected objectives guide the Pannon Skills initiative, each building toward a sustainable model for career orientation in vocational education.
Labour Market Alignment
Bring the dual education system closer to labour market realities through setting and piloting a framework for a new, international, four-stage career orientation initiative.
Train Career Counsellors
Train 48 homeroom teachers and school psychologists as career counsellors, ensuring long-term impact in the participating VET institutions by integrating career orientation into their educational practices.
Raise Employability Awareness
Map and raise awareness on new employability trends and career orientation good practices, involving industry and policy stakeholders in this consultancy process.
